Neil P. Buffett



Buffett is currently finishing a dissertation titled “Black, White, and Green: High School Student Activism in the Civil Rights and Environmental Movements, 1945-1975” under the direction of Dr. Christopher Sellers. In addition to his research and writing, Buffett serves as a part-time Academic Advisor in the university's Academic Advising Center, and periodically serves the Department of History as an adjunct lecturer. Throughout his years at Stony Brook, Buffett has taught a variety of courses, including "U.S. Cities and Suburbs in the 20th Century," "20th Century Social Movements: Civil Rights, Environmentalism, and Environmental Justice," "Suburbanization in International Perspective," "SBU 101: Introduction to Stony Brook for Transfer Students," "EXT 488: Academic Peer Advisor Internship Seminar," as well as "American Civilization II, 1877-Present," (at Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus.) Prior to beginning doctoral studies at Stony Brook, Buffett attended and graduated from Clinton Community College and the State University of New York at Plattsburgh in Plattsburgh, NY, as well as the College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY where he earned his Associates, Bachelors, and Masters Degrees, respectively.
