- Research Interests
My research interests are modern Europe and European colonialism, particularly issues of race and national belonging in France during the era of decolonization.
My dissertation is a study of social action provided to Algerian migrants in metropolitan France during the Algerian War (1954-1962). I am particularly interested in the ways in which social services became entangled with surveillance and repression during this period of intense violence, poverty, and uncertainty over Algerians’ place in the French nation.
